He walked up to her with open arms
As though no time had passed
As his arms welcomed her
Her eyes welled up with tears
He dropped to his knees and cupped his hands
He caught every one she shed
His knees bled with patience
As she emptied out her heart
Sadness, anger and laughter were emotions she shared
His heart knew she was honest
And he knew that she was hurt
He didn’t argue with her
Only listened as she poured
As her tears stopped falling
And her words slowed, then stopped
He rose and looked her in the eyes
Held her face and pulled it close to his
“I love you with all my heart and only wish for you the best”
He then turned and walked away
As she shed a final tear
Her heart he took with him
And she whispered a final, ‘goodbye’
